I got a new phone. Decided to not go with the iPhone, at least the first gen of it. I’ve wrestled with paying for a data plan on my phone and the only way I could justify it is if I didn’t have to pay my regular internet bill too, which means I need sufficient speeds on the phone. The iPhone, not being 3G, will likely not cut it, so I went for something else. Also, since it’s usually good practice to avoid first gen Apple releases, and the iPhone is even “more” first gen then say, a new laptop generation, it’s probably better I don’t get tempted. =)

I’ve played around with the 3G data transfers on the Blackjack and it’s pretty good. Actually uploads faster than the cable modem here at the apartment (downloads are slower though, but still decent). I’ll play with this a bit more and make the call whether I can go without an internet connection at my next place.

In other news, big congrats to Angell and Eunice on their engagement. I was privileged to have the honor of shooting the proposal, and it was a lot of fun. Thanks for giving the opportunity, Angell. =) Here are pics, now that I have permission to post them… =) Angell had a fake ring he “accidently” threw off the side of the pedestrian bridge at Town Lake. That should explain at least some of Eunice’s expressions. =)

Today, my company had an all-hands meeting at Alamo Drafthouse Village. This is my second all-hands, and it was just as invigorating as the last one. Bazaarvoice is doing really really well and it’s really cool to be a part of such a successful company despite the long hours. The people I work with are pretty awesome and it’s great to get a feel of the other departments and hear their stories.

We finished the day off by watching Spider-Man 3 (which I wish was much better), and tomorrow we hit the lake and finale at Oasis! W00t!

Vox went to Longview Park yesterday to help out Austin a bit.

I also used the opportunity to buy a Polaroid camera. I’ve always thought they were pretty cool and they’re not very pricey, either! It’s the film that gets you, I suppose. =) Rest of the pics on my flickr.

Today, Vox Veniae went to a park to help restore it. So I took a bunch of pics from that too… but I haven’t uploaded them yet, so I’ll post them later.

Yesterday, Oriana got baptized at ACC. I think she made everyone cry (including myself) when she gave her testimony. Congrats, little sister. =)

Went to JM’s concert at Stubb’s last night with a bunch of Vox people. It was pretty cool. I wish I had brought my camera, but I forgot my CF cards at the apartment, so my body and lenses were pretty useless, haha. It would have been a good opportunity to use my 17-40L. Oh well… next time. =)

I went to a coworker’s wedding with Kathy on Friday and it was one of the best weddings I have attended. Very light-hearted and fun with little/no stress in the air, haha. Here are some shots from it:

Yesterday, we went to see TMNT and it was pretty enjoyable. =) I won’t say much more than that because there are people like Viraj out there that will be pissed if I say that Michelangelo is a party dude. I was debating whether to get chicken strips or pizza and I had changed my mind to chicken strips, but Kathy said “how could you see TMNT and not get pizza?” I then realized she was so right and it was true, I must get pizza. The usual Raging Bull it was. =)

Yesterday we finished gutting the house which had a few large things we still needed to get out and a lot of little things. We brought almost the whole group and worked on removing nails, the bathroom, and other house stuff. =) We somehow managed to get a pretty large pile out in front of the house despite thinking we got almost everything out the day before. Afterwards, we headed over to the lake that overflowed over the levees and flooded the area.

Today we went to gut a house. The house belonged to an old couple that moved to Florida when Katrina hit. They passed away a few months after and no one has touched their house since it got flooded. We came in to clear it out and tear out the walls, etc. The children of the couple requested we look for a few items while we cleaned it out and we were able to find some of them I believe.

It was pretty crazy seeing how damaged the house was. It looks like the water went about eight feet high. In the kitchen, the fridge was horizontal and was resting on a counter or sink or something. I’ve got a bunch of photos (a few below) on my flickr, and Enoch has a bunch as well. Enoch had a wide lens that lets you get an idea of the overall damage done to the room.

Oh, and it was also Evan’s birthday today, so we celebrated at a Gumbo place. Was tasty. =)
