Snow Day

Okay, this post is late, I know. I’m sure all of you know it snowed yesterday. Well, did you know what my backyard looked like? Probably not!

SnowDay-001

Now you do!

On snow day, BV closed the office early, so Ryan and I went home at around 1PM. Later, I took a break from working at home and went to play some frisbee in the snow. YES, SNOW FRISBEEEEEEEEEE. Needless to say, that was quite awesome and I froze my hands, battered my shins some more, but had a lot of fun. Now I just need it to pour… then we can have POURING RAIN FRISBEEEEEEEEEEEEE…

In other news, Sam apparently has no idea how a machine dishwasher works and decided to put a bunch of palmolive hand dishwashing liquid into the machine instead of using the huge box of Cascade I have under my sink (you know, where everyone puts their dishwasher detergent). The next day, I opened it and was greeted with a bunch of bubbles and unclean dishes.

I’ve also grown a liking to bothering my sisters online…

Sam, 2004

The first year I roomed with Sam, he posted this on his Xanga:

[random though of the moment] it is 6:30 am, sun is not up. looks at Oliver.
thinks: hhmm… too bad Oliver is not a girl , or else we could go see the sun
rise together. two guys watching the sun rise is just gay. [/ random thought]

Apparently Sam used to watch me sleep and wish I was a girl so he could share a sunrise with me.

Omegle

Ryan showed me this site where you basically chat with random people. I’ll just leave you with this:

I also explained to a Chinese boy what asl meant then proceeded to say I was from the UK and he should mind the gap.

Wheels go round and round
You’re on my mind
Restless hearts sleep alone tonight
Sending all my love along the wire” - Journey

Hello, blog!

Let’s see… there are a few topics to discuss, but some I will not. ;) Sometimes it is a bit awkward to use a very public blog as a sort of virtual scrap book…

Anyways, Thursday, a group of BVers + Sam and I went to the Love Bites sing-along at the drafthouse. It was pretty amazing. Unfortunately, I’m not over the cough I picked up from the cold I caught in Seattle, so belting out to the likes of Journey, Queen, etc. did not help. I toughed it out though through a bunch of cough drops and tea and had a blast. IMO, one of the best, if not the best sing-along they’ve got (that I’ve been to, at least).

Today, had a great game of ultimate where Al joined us again after finishing his marathon last week. I managed to scrape up my knee a bit, but I purchased pads for my cleats that helped a bunch in preventing my shins from busting again. Mikey got banged up quite a bit by getting pelted with the frisbee a few times on this arms, and face… then he jammed his thumb into Mark. Maybe I’ll start cataloging all of our frisbee injuries… =)

Spent the latter part of today napping and cleaning… that’s it… for now. =)

Poor Batman

My Batman keychain has finally lost both of its legs. Now he looks almost offensive… perhaps it is time to replace him with my LEGO Yoda keychain.

Batman-001

“In a field of yellow flowers,
underneath the sun,
bluest eyes that spark with lightning,
boy with shoes undone.
He is young, so full of hope,
reveling in tiny dreams,
filling up, his arms with flowers,
right for giving any queen.

Running to her beaming bright,
while cradling his prize.
A flickering of yellow light,
within his mother’s eyes.
She holds them to her heart,
keeping them where they’ll be safe,
clasped within her very marrow,
dandelions in a vase.” - Five Iron Frenzy

Why am I awake?

I’ve apparently been awake for the past almost two hours and I can’t go back to sleep (which is a rarity for me). I suppose I might as well blog!

Here are some pics from Sunday, when Al ran his first marathon!

Ryan had an “accident:”

Yay, London Lad!

Here’s my sign, which I don’t think Al liked that much:

I’m sure he liked Meagan’s more:

For the rest of Sunday, I cleaned up a good chunk of my house which was long overdue for vacuuming, then took a nap in my tauntaun. Went to dinner with Sam, then chilled for a while with him and Ryan before going to sleep again only to wake up two hours ago… and here I am.

I spent way too long trying to find lyrics to put here… but alas, they have been found!

“Life is like a hurricane here in Duckburg
Race cars, lasers, aeroplanes - it’s a duck blur
You might solve a mystery or rewrite history

Duck Tales, Oo-oo
Tales of derring-do, bad and good luck tales, oo-oo

D-d-d-danger, watch behind you - there’s a stranger out to find you
What to do? Just grab onto some Duck Tales, oo-oo!
Not pony tails or cotton tails but Duck Tales, oo-oo!” - Mark Mueller/Disney

Did you know that Mark Mueller wrote the Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers theme song as well? That guy is awesome. Okay, time to try to sleep again…

Bruised but not beaten

I somehow bruised the top of one of my knuckles (see pic at end of post) while playing ultimate today, but that’s okay because it was a lot of fun to play again. I’m still getting over a cough, but I managed to play acceptably through it. =)

Tomorrow, Al runs his first marathon! Good luck! In the morning, I’ll be over at Scotty’s along with other BVers to cheer him on at the ~23 mile mark.

Yesterday, I won $223 from being in a money booth. Thanks again, BV! I think I will use the money to EAT FOOD.

“Saturday night I was downtown
Working for the FBI
Sitting in a nest of bad men
Whiskey bottles piling high

Bootlegging boozer on the west side
Full of people who are doing wrong
Just about to call up the DA man
When I heard this woman singing a song” - The Hollies

Shattered Dreams

I spent the end of tonight watching 80’s music videos. Man, that was pretty awesome. Here’re a few:

I’m pretty much over the majority of my cold now, but I still have a lingering cough. I’ve found that when I’m sick, I seem to have a weird “internal smell” that’s akin to burnt electronics. It’s a bit strange and not very pleasant to say the least. I hope I don’t actually smell that way…

I was also sent this video of Sam, which I find pretty hilarious.

I believe that night, I had to drive downtown at almost 2AM to pick his drunk butt up.

“And now you’ve given me, given me
Nothing but shattered dreams, shattered dreams,
Feel like I could run away, run away
From this empty heeeaaaaart…” - Johnny Hates Jazz

Think I'm in Love

… not really, that’s just the song I’m listening to. =) This weekend was pretty boring as I basically just quarantined myself at home trying to get over this stupid cold/cough.

I skipped out on going to Dallas to eat food, skipped out on ultimate, and skipped out on going to Vox. Darn you, germs. I did, however, watch the Saints win the Super Bowl. Grats to them. =)

I started doing my taxes on TurboTax, but I’m not entirely sure what the best way to handle roommate rent income is. Not entirely sure how much and how to classify my expenses/interest, etc…. time to do some investigating…

“I think I’m in love
And my life’s lookin’ up
I think I’m in love
‘Cause I can’t get enough (no, no, no)
I think I’m in love
It’s gotta be love” - Eddie Money

Februaries Past

Having about ten years of blog history is pretty awesome. Since I’m out of commission for ultimate, I’m just sitting at home reading through past February blog posts to avoid being super bored. Here’re my summaries:

  • 2009 - I closed on my house! It’s been a year!

  • 2008 - Looks like I had a lull in my blogging during this time period… but roughly around this time, we completed the endless setlist in the first Rock Band

  • 2007 - My first start to finish Bazaarvoice client, Toshiba, launched with Ratings & Reviews

  • 2006 - I swapped out an image of Pikachu that people were hotlinking for a picture of Viraj

  • 2005 - I made a post about chicken, and apparently hit level 47 in WoW

  • 2004 - I was complaining about Chinese being a lot of work

  • 2003 - I don’t even know what to say here… I was really nerdy. A bad joke about a girl and/or Perl? Oh my…

  • 2002 - I apparently had quite a few other people than myself posting on OliverWEB… but other than that, looks like I was working on MrTechHappy.com

  • 2001 - I posted the “All your base are belong to us” animated gif

  • 2000 - I did nothing for a few months other than upload some pics

Whew. =p
