Man-date

For my birthday, I gave myself a few days off of work (Friday, Monday and Tuesday). Chad also had Friday off, so we went on a man-date and saw:

A few minutes before the movie started, we were the only guys there. Some others showed up as the movie was starting, but we were the only ones without accompanying females. That said, I enjoyed the movie, so take away what you will from that. =p

On Saturday, I watched UT lose (good try though, guys) and just did some misc hanging out. Sunday, I had a birthday lunch with the family and then hung out with peeps again. Viraj and I finally got around to recording some post-Asia trip interviews for our trip documentary. I cut a few of the clips together last night and it’s turning out well. I still need quite a few snippets, but it’s a good start.

Facebook Timeline

So I enabled Timeline on my account since I’m one of those developer types and it’s actually pretty cool.

The timeline gets more general the further back you go (and probably because I used FB less when I first started), but here are some things it thought to highlight back in the day:

shrug =)

Neglected

Poor blog, so neglected. After the new year started, I stopped trying to keep up with the at least one blog post per week… I now see that without that target, I apparently don’t post very much at all. =)

Alrighty, so it feels like it’s been a busy month.

Life

Gid showed us this video at Vox:

Last Minutes with ODEN from phos pictures on Vimeo.

It was pretty moving as I think we can all connect with the pain of loss. Sometimes it’s good to cry, ya know?

The Bazaarvoice crew lost one of our young implementation engineers this weekend to a stupid hit and run. If you have any information, please contact APD. I didn’t know him very well, but from the small bit of time I worked with him, I know the loss of Andrew Runciman will be felt at BV, so I can only imagine the loss felt by his friends and family. Prayers to you all.

Social Updates

In a week or so I will be transitioning to a new position at Bazaarvoice - Labs Engineer. I’m really excited to face a new set of challenges/problems and am comfortable that there are more than capable engineers in Technical Services to fill in for me. I have no doubt that the team that has been built there will continue to push the boundaries on delivering our products and I hope to be able to help from the other side of the building. =)

I took the job switch as an opportunity to update my LinkedIn with a slightly better job history at Bazaarvoice, lest I forget what I did… haha. I also updated my Twitter avatar and I think I need to make a new custom background, but I haven’t decided on what to do yet…

Meatcation 2 iMovie "Trailer"

Yay! Another Meatcation movie! This time, starring Sam Ni!

Like a few other iMovie templated movies, I just stuck with the default text for the most part. =)

Unfortunately, I took far less video than I should have this time around. I will commit to being more vigilant next time. Fortunately, I did a little better on the photo front which you can see on my Meatcation 2 flickr set. Enjoy!

Meatcation 2

Okay, I finally uploaded the rest of my Meatcation 2 photos. Go to the flickr set for them all, but here are some highlights.

Disclaimer: I use the term “meat” loosely. Meatcation is really all about eating some kind of animal each day, preferably new in some way (we haven’t made/had before or cooked in a unique way, etc.). Seafood, poultry, etc. all qualify.

This time around, we didn’t have the luxury of taking off an entire week of work, so we just did dinner for seven days (with a two day break in between). We started off the week with duck so that we could have plenty of duck fat for the later days. =)

Getting better… bison steaks and lamb. Mmmm, that lamb was good, although slightly overcooked. I feel like the bison steak could have used more salt and pepper, but not bad. We also had the glorious duck fat drenched potatoes today.

Orbit

I have a number of topics to post about, but I haven’t found the time. I’ll get to them eventually…

This is my dog, Orbit:

Thanksgiving-016

He shall be missed. =( He lived a long life though… about 16 years? Good bye, Orbit, you were a good dog. =) RIP.
