“Father wears his sunday best
Mother’s tired she needs a rest
The kids are playing up downstairs
Sister’s sighing in her sleep
Brother’s got a date to keep
He can’t hang around
Our house, in the middle of our street
Our house, in the middle of our…” -Madness
Walk-Through
Tomorrow, I have my final walk-through of my soon-to-be-house before closing. I’ll bring my camera and film some. Will post on YouTube!
Earlier today, I went to Denny’s with Carolee, Eric, Heather, and Tiff and we had our free Grand Slam breakfast. Woo! I then worked worked worked and prevented disaster here and there. I still can’t find my gate card, so Andrew has to let me in to the apartment. I will be leaving him soon. Poor Andrew.
In other news, Sam has a girly “satchel” that he keeps the following in:
- keys
- phone
- fashionable pocket mirror
- vial of blood he jacked from work
- “the pill”
- a rubber bouncy ball
- a scrunchie
- herpes cream
In response to this discovery, he claims he was just being nice and carrying the herpes cream for Ochs and the bouncy ball “just fell in there” somehow. Uh huh…
I’m going to pick back up something I used to do and end my posts with parts of songs now. To the following, I dedicate to Mark who watched much more of this Avril concert with me than we should’ve. I confess I am drawn to horrible TV.
“I can see the way
I see the way
You look at me
And even when you look away
I know you think of me
I know you talk about me all the time
Again and again (and again, and again, and again…)
(So)So come over here
Tell me what I wanna hear
Better yet, make the girlfriend disappear
I don’t wanna hear you say her name
Ever again (And again and again and again…)
Cause
She’s like so whatever
And you can do so much better
I think we should get together now
And that’s what everyone’s talking about!” -Avril Lavigne
Man, that song is so horrible but so awesome in a terrible terrible way too… it’s hard for me to express the mixture of horror and awesome that is the line “she’s like so whatever.”
House
No, not that House. Three/four more days until I own a home (or rather, start paying a bank for it)!
It’s a bit crazy seeing my living expenses sky-rocket, but at least a chunk of it isn’t going completely to waste.
New house checklist (phase 1):
TV(Samsung HL67A750 67” DLP)- Fridge
- Living room sofa
- Washer/Dryer
- Sound system
- Blu-ray player (PS3?)
- Bean bags
Anyone want to live with me for a while? =p
Sleep?
Well my sleep schedule’s really messed up. Anyways, I’m surfing around randomly and looking at my flickr stats and noticed this:
2009
Happy New Year! I’ve got a new year resolution or two, but I’m keeping them to myself. =p What I will share, though, is the awesome pizza we had on New Year’s Eve from Arpeggio Grill. We got a monster 28” pizza with a bunch of toppings for something around $32.46 (just a random guess… j/k, I asked Mark).
The plates in the video are almost 9” in diameter, FYI.
Day 5 Close
Last few days in photos, mostly:
Stop 5 - Rancho Alegre (Cuban food):
Our next place was supposed to be a BBQ place called Allen and Son’s, but they were closed (not sure why) so we ended up at…
This was the place that had the awesome chowder (smoked scallops + bacon):
When we arrived in Newark, we slept in the parking lot for a few hours (before taking a train to NYC):
Stop 7 - Tung Yi Fung (dim sum):
When we walked in, we knew it was a good place because everyone there was Chinese. I mean everyone. Mark says a white guy walked in as we were leaving, but he was a serviceman. They spoke Cantonese everywhere, so I just pointed at all the dishes we wanted.
They sat us at a table with two older Chinese women who attempted to talk to me, but I just smiled and shook my head at them saying “sorry, I don’t speak Chinese.” After that, they discussed amongst themselves about how I did/didn’t look Chinese and stared at me a few times. Dim sum meal costed us $25 total for all of us including tax and tip. It was awesome.
We slept that night under Penn Station in New Jersey then headed to Cleveland…
Stop 9 - Trattoria on the Hill:
Mark had some wedding soup that was amazing:
We are now in Chicago (or rather a ‘burb of) at Mark’s sister’s place after…
After dinner, we had some frozen yogurt:
Oh yeah, and it’s going to be freakin’ cold tomorrow.
Yatta!
We just crossed into Ohio. Lunch in Cleveland, then it is dinner in Chicago. At 3am I washed my hair in a rest stop sink. It was awesome. Pics from the last few days coming tonight.
