Fire Place Self-Portrait

I have had plans to take a self-portrait to put above my fire place for a while now. I took the first stab at the photo for it today, which turned out better than I was expecting!

monocle

I haven’t printed anything large with these types of Photoshop effects on it, so I’m not sure how that will go. As a test, I’m printing out a large 20x30 at Costco to see how it looks. If it looks good, I’ll be printing it on canvas. Woo!

Some notes for the future:

  • Having a camera assistance would be a plus (running back and forth with the camera shooting on a timer is a hassle).

  • I could use a mirror (running back and forth to bathroom to practice facial expressions is a hassle).

  • Use less mousse - in my inexperience with hair products, I used too much…

The monocle one

This weekend, I…

  • Played some more Ultimate

  • Went to Bill & Tonia’s baby shower with Ryan and Heather

  • Went shopping with Nancy for a bit and got a monocle!

  • Watched Mark play Shadow Complex for a really long time, passed out on the couch, woke up to random “yelling” from Andrew/Nancy/Viraj (playing Settlers), then finally went to sleep in my room after Mark/Ryan left the living room (at ~6AM?)

  • Went home for hot-pot

And… that’s all I can remember for now, but I feel like I’m forgetting stuff… =p

The 90's weekend one

Saturday started off slow and I went to run a few errands, then we played our now usual Saturday Ultimate game. I’m a bit more sore this time than usual, for some reason, but at least that means I actually gave myself a workout. =) Julie and Dean came up to join us (though Julie didn’t play) and we later went to Chancy’s to hang out where I passed out and Sam took me home later.

Sunday was not too eventful, but I found out via Al’s Facebook page that 94.7 was having their 90’s weekend, so I tuned in to them for a lot of the day including throughout the Cowboys game. My receiver apparently will still pass through the video output from the previous input if you switch to the radio tuner, which is pretty cool. Nothing like watching a Cowboys game to Kiss from a Rose (thank you, Seal).

I’ve also uploaded another video from the BV All-Hands:

The lots of frisbeeing one

This weekend… let’s see….

Friday, Al came over (well, more like I took him over since his car had a flat) and we watched a special Top Gear episode where they trekked across Vietnam on motor bikes. Then, we went over to Chancy’s and hung out for quite a while. I accidentally left a bag of Hershey Kisses there which Nancy informed me later was used for trick-or-treaters. Punks! I took Al home and that concluded the night.

On Saturday, I started the day by going to Academy in search of colored vests to use to easily identify team members for Ultimate. Unfortunately, they did not have enough and furthermore, each vest was $5, which was more than I was willing to spend. I ended up picking up two flag football kits, which worked sufficiently. We had a decent amount of people show up at the field and played up with up to 13 people at one point, which was pretty cool.

Later that night, I went to my first hockey game and watched the Stars whoop up on some Chicago team (I think they were the Wolves). That was amusing and I had lots of hot dogs and some nachos. After that, we watched I Love You Man, then went to Jim’s and enjoyed the extra hour before sleeping.

On Sunday, I accompanied Ryan to the Domain where we met up with Steph and Al and I bought some new shoes to replace my pair of worn out fancy ones. I found a pair of the exact same style I was replacing and I thought that would make my decision really easy, but it turned out they didn’t have my size, so I had to pick another. So much for mindless shopping. Went home and back to the field to practice throwing the frisbee more with a handful of peeps. I worked on my backhand throw quite a bit which I am satisfied with my progress there… I ended up bruising my hand though so now it hurts to open the door and use the scroll wheel on my mouse. Oh well, that’s signs of a good day in the field. =)

That’s all I can think of for now… tata!

Mas Ultimate

Okay, this post is a bit late, but the rest of the weekend (besides Brook’s wedding) was made up of Ultimate Frisbee, where I sent Andrew to fetch Nancy (made her unhappy, so I hear) and Ryan and Al decided to join us! I didn’t take any action shots (too busy playing), but here are some photos of when we went to Sonic after the game:

After that, Andrew, Mark, Ryan and I went to Ruth’s Chris where I used up $125 worth of gift cards. I thought the steak was good, but not worth full price, I think, and probably wouldn’t go back again.

Life's a climb...

Friday night, I went to eat at Asia Cafe with the BV crew, which included two of Steph’s visiting friends. Then, we played some Rock Band and I messed with my studio lights:

Afterwards, we watched Hannah Montana: The Movie, and let me tell you… I can now die in peace.

I feel like I’m still in UK time as I get tired pretty early but I’m having an easier time waking up in the morning… so off to bed for me. I shall leave you with a quote from the awesome movie of tonight:

“Life’s a climb… but the view is great.”

The Red River one

Ah, the Red River Shootout. The UT/OU game is the only game I’ve ever been to, and the year I went, UT lost 12-0, so I have yet to see UT actually score in person. shrug =)

On the plus side, this weekend we watched the game at my place and made lots of yummy food (I only have picture of corn, but we made burgers and steak too):

I also got some remote controls for my Alien Bees, so I tested them out a bit with one light. Sam, graciously, decided to be my model (perhaps not too graceful for you):

Oh yeah, show me some leg, Sam:

Andrew, joined in, and thus there are now more homoerotic pictures of the pair:

Speaking of Viraj, he tried to pull some lame germophobic move and decided to waste a tissue by putting it under his cell phone on the ground.

Mark alerted me of this fact, and I would have none of it, so we had to fix it:

Rest of the photos are here. Enjoy!

The start of this one

Well, I’m still awake at nearly 7AM because I made the decision to sleep the entire flight back to Austin from London. It sure makes the time fly, but my sleep schedule is so whacked now.

The Heathrow airport pretty much has a small mall inside of it, so I was browsing books to find something to pass the time. After looking up and down the aisles not finding anything, I decided with much amusement to pick up Twilight and perhaps become smitten with this Edward character I keep hearing about. Well, like I mentioned earlier, I slept virtually the entire flight and did not read a word, so I have a British copy of some teenage-girl-crazed vampire novel if anyone wants it (I’m fairly sure the only difference is the currency on the back near the bar-code).

Ryan, somewhat surprisingly, instigated a bad movie watching experience by asking OMan, Andrew and I what bad movies we could watch tonight. We ended up getting through the latest installment in the oft-acclaimed Bring It On series - Bring It On Fight to the Finish. We’re glad to have Ryan in the club.

“Everyday - I try and I try and I try -
But everybody wants to put me down
They say I’m goin’ crazy
They say I got a lot of water in my brain
Got no common sense
I got nobody left to believe
Yeah - yeah yeah yeah

Oh Lord
Somebody - somebody
Can anybody find me somebody to love?” - Queen
